MINUTES OF THE INTERGROUP MEETING OF DECEMBER 5, 2007

Chairperson Kathy R. called the meeting to order with the serenity prayer at 7:30 pm.  The twelve traditions were read by Adrienne K.

 

PRESENT:

Committee –  Ex-Officio Sharon S., Ben P., Diane R., Karen B., Gretchen K.,

                       Jim R., Nita C., Anne F., Alex R., Josh S., and Theresa R.

 

Absent Officers – Chair-Elect Bud R., Treasurer Sharon L.

Absent Committee:  LeeAnn A., Celina P., Theresa R.

Roll Call was taken by Secretary (Rhonda E.)  The minutes of the October 17, 2007 intergroup meeting were read silently and accepted as presented.  A summary of all old business, new business and motions passed at the November 21, 2007 service board meeting was reported.

 

REPORTS:

Chairperson Kathy R. presented the Income Expense Statement in Treasurer Sharon L’s absence.    The report was received and placed on file.  Office coordinator Sharon T. gave her report and it was placed on file.

 

After announcements and a break, the following reports were presented:

Ex-Officio: (Sharon S.) verbal report; Public Information (Ben P) report was received and placed on file; Hospitals & Institutions (Diane R.) report was received and placed on file; Round Robin (Gretchen K.) report was received and placed on file; Alateen (Jim R.) report was received and placed on file; Orange Blossom (Anne F.) report was received and placed on file; World Service (Alex R.) report was received and placed on file; Alateen Liaison (Josh S.) gave verbal report.

 

NEW BUSINESS: None.

 

7th tradition was observed.

 

ASK-IT-CAN:

Question: “What are the requirements for being a World Service Representative?”

Answer: “You must have one year of service in Al-Anon.  It is a three year

                 commitment.  You represent your meeting and attend district and

                 assembly meetings”.

 

Question: “What if an Intergroup Representative’s term is up and no one else has volunteered to take the position?”

Answer: “Each group is autonomous and can refer to the manual for options”.

 

Question:As an Intergroup Representative, can I copy fliers for other meetings?”

Answer: “Yes.”

 

Question: “In our business meetings, why is it necessary to keep records of names and who made motions?”

Answer: “For clarification.  We follow Robert’s Law.”

OLD BUSINESS:  Question was addressed by Chairperson Kathy R:

     Question: “Why are the phones in our staff office unattended on Sundays?” 

     Answer: “It is most economical to have an answering machine”. 

 

There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 9:20 pm.
